Shah Rukh Khan was born in 12th November 1965 inNew Delhi, . His mother was a social worker and father was a businessman. Khan has masters in Mass Communications from Jamiya Miliya Islamiya, Delhi. After his college, he moved to Mumbai looking to break into movies. His first break came in 1988 where is got a major role in TV serial "Fauji". This role brought his recognition among viewers and producers and directors. A year later i
worked in another TV serial called “Circus". While working his way up, he fell in love with Gauri Chibbar. They married in 1991.A year later Shah Rukh starred in his first movie named “Dil Ashna Hai". That year (1992) his five films were released. Although none of the movies were blockbusters, Shah Rukh did manage to get attention of the movie goers and the critics. He was awarded the Film Fare Best Debut Award for 1992.In 1993, Shah Rukh starred as an obsessive lover in "Darr". His portrayal of the character added more fans to the increasing number of admirers and got him the Film Fare Award. Darr was a breakthrough movie for him; finally he had arrived in bollywood. Not a good looking actor in bollywood terms, Shah Rukh's success is largely due to his ability to play the characters with conviction and his ability to connect with the audience. His dancing skills are questionable and his stunts are not very impressive but with his dimpled smiles, intense eyes and the way he delivers the dialogues (they seem like coming from his heart) he has captured hearts and minds of his fans. In his 13 year movie career, he has acted in about 57 films, received 13 Film Fare Awards and a Padma Shree Award from the Indian Government. He was also given the Best Indian Citizen Award for 1997 and Rajiv Gandhi Award for Excellence in the Field of Entertainment Year 2002. He once commented about the number of awards he has received over the years by saying that now there is only the Best Actress award left to be won. Unlike his peer Amir Khan who does not participate in Award ceremonies, Shah Rukh enjoys participating and performing in these functions.
